Nissan Motor Company Ltd usually shortened to Nissan is a Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Yokohama, Japan.
Since 1999, Nissan has been part of the Renault–Nissan Alliance, a partnership between Nissan and French automaker Renault. Renault holds a 43.4% voting stake in Nissan, while Nissan holds a 15% non-voting stake in Renault. Carlos Ghosn serves as CEO of both companies.

In 2010, Nissan introduced the Nissan LEAF as the first mass-market, all-electric vehicle launched globally.[ The LEAF the world’s best selling highway-capable all-electric car with sales of over 100,000 units by mid 2014 representing around a 45% market share of pure electric vehicles
Global Leaf sales passed the 200,000 unit milestone in December 2015, and the Leaf continued ranking as the all-time best selling all-electric car. In August 2016, Nissan global electric vehicle sales passed the 250,000 unit milestone.
Nissan’s second all-electric vehicle, the Nissan e-NV200, was announced in November 2013. Series production at the Nissan Plant in Barcelona, Spain, began on May 7, 2014. The e-NV200 commercial van is based on the Nissan Leaf. Nissan plans to launch two additional battery electric vehicles by March 2017.
