- As a good rule of thumb the Japanese, Asian and US manufactures, but not Tesla use the same standard: Type 1 connection
- The German manufactures plus Volvo are different and use a Type 2 connection.
- The French are split with some Renaults using a Type 1 connection and some using a Type 2 connection.
Once you have determined the type of cable fitting you need you then can select from the power rating of the cable: 16 or 32 Amps. Most electric cars only charge at 16 Amps as that is the limitation of the on-board charger.
We offer a range of cables. To keep things as simple as possible all cables are 5 meters in length. Most UK public charge points are a Type 2 socket requiring a Male Type 2 fitting.
The manufactures in the Green boxes use a Type 1 on board connector and need a standard Type 1 to Type 2 cable. The Red boxes indicate a Type 2 to Type 2 cable.
